Michelle Harris, Ph.D.

Associate Professor

Dr. Michelle N. Harris is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and an affiliated faculty member of UNC Charlotte’s Violence Prevention Center. Her research examines the intersections of mental health, victimization, and resilience; the role of mental health in criminological processes such as offending, bystander intervention, and risk recognition; and biopsychosocial correlates of victimization (e.g., traumatic brain injury, psychopathy, etc.), with over two dozen peer-reviewed publications to date. She is a recipient of the 2025 Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Division of Victimology New Scholar Award.
