Program Overview

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s online Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice & Criminology program is a degree-completion program for learners like you who may be seeking to progress in your current field or to prepare for a career change. Our Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice & Criminology program is delivered 100% online and designed to be accessible and flexible for students and working professionals.

Criminal Justice and Criminology are two interrelated areas of study with a rich interdisciplinary academic tradition. Criminology is the study of the etiology and nature of crime and delinquency, and theoretical explanations conceived to explain these behaviors. Criminal Justice is the study of agencies’ responses to criminal and delinquent behavior, the relationship among these agencies, and policies that impact the process through which justice is administered.

Our online bachelor’s degree program allows students and working professionals to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work and complete in both of these substantive areas.  Students who earn our online degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology often pursue careers in policing/law enforcement, courts and correctional settings, rehabilitation, support services, and more.

Finally, ensure that you meet the declaration requirements below before moving forward with the request form.

Declaration Requirements:

  • Complete CJUS 1100/1511 with a grade of C or better, within 2 attempts.
  • Cumulative 2.0 GPA
  • 24 credit hours completed.

Once you have reviewed these program requirements, online education implications, and declaration requirements, please complete the Change of Major form to be considered for the program.
